Children's Center Opportunities

School Age Dance

So you think you can dance?  Lead or assist with our dance club.  Our children are exposed to the different kinds of dance (jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tap) and learn a basic routine in one or more types of dance. Our clubs meet on Wednesday afternoons for 6 week sessions. Each club has 8 – 12 participants, 5 years to 13 years old. This volunteer will work with a staff member to provide a fun and learning experience for the children.

School Age Drama

Interested in leading or assisting our Drama Club.  This club gives children the opportunity to use their imagination. Depending upon the age/abilities of the participant they may participate in “Improv” play (traditional dramatic play) or scripted play using familiar nursery rhymes and stories or child written stories. Our clubs meet on Wednesday afternoons for 6 week sessions. Each club has 8 – 12 participants, 5 years to 13 years old. This volunteer will work with a staff member to provide a fun and learning experience for the children.

This volunteer will work with a staff member to provide a fun and learning experience for the children.

School Age Pottery

Are you skilled in pottery?  Lend a hand by leading or assisting with our Pottery Club. This club gives children the opportunity to use their imagination while learning pottery techniques. The children can work with play dough or clay and with their hands, tools and/or a potter’s wheel. Our clubs meet on Wednesday afternoons for 6 week sessions. Each club has 8 – 12 participants, 5 years to 13 years old. This volunteer will work with a staff member to provide a fun and learning experience for the children.

School Age Sports

Do you like sports and have time to share your knowledge?  Lead or assist with our Sports Club. The children will have fun while learning basic sports, skills and games. The club emphasizes cooperation, teamwork and sportsmanship. Our clubs meet on Wednesday afternoons for 6 week sessions. Each club has 8 – 12 participants, 5 years to 13 years old. This volunteer will work with a staff member to provide a fun and learning experience for the children.

Sign Language

Are you able to share your time and talent teaching our infant-toddler staff and children how to communicate in sign language? The ideal method would be for the volunteer to sign songs and/or books at Circle Time, so that staff and children could learn in a natural manner. Additional teaching of staff through workshops or other means would also be helpful.
