Group Volunteer Opportunities

Provide Homework Assistance

Volunteers of America’s Children’s Center provides child care and educational programs for children from low-income households.  The center provides after-school care for 80 children who attend elementary school. Volunteers are needed to help children with basic math, reading, and writing homework.

Hold a Clothing Drive

Volunteers of America accepts donations of clothing, shoes, jewelry and other accessories, which are sold in VOA stores to generate money for our human service programs.  Groups can organize a clothing drive and arrange a date for VOA to pick up the items that have been collected.

Sort Scholastic Books for Distribution to Low-income Children

Volunteers are needed to help sort, label, and pack new scholastic books for distribution to children from low-income families.

Organize a Fundraiser

VOA offers a variety of programs for those in need, including housing for the homeless, the Working Wardrobe, and care for at-risk children. Proceeds from car washes, bake sales, and other efforts can be donated to Volunteers of America to help fund these much-needed services.

Hold a Food Drive and/or Help to Pack Food Baskets

Volunteers of America operates an emergency food pantry as part of our Homelessness Intervention Program.  Groups are invited to hold food drives for non-perishable food supplies to help keep the pantry stocked for families in need.  Groups are also invited to help pack food baskets for families in need.
