VOA to Host 16th Annual Golf Tournament
Volunteers of America Upstate New York will be holding their 16th annual Golf Tournament at the Irondequoit Country Club on Monday, September 17. All proceeds for this event will go towards Volunteers of America’s programs which include: child care and early childhood development programs; housing and support services for homeless individuals and families; reentry programs for individuals leaving correctional facilities; life skills training, and employment services.
Community members are encouraged to participate in the tournament to help Volunteers of America reach their goal of raising $75,000. With 12 different sponsorships level, people are able to choose which program they would like to fund. The Premier Sponsorship — which includes three foursomes, a full page ad in the program, signage on six holes, and the company logo on golf carts as title sponsor — provides after school programs for 40 children at the nationally accredited Volunteers of America Children’s Center. By supporting the Children’s Center, supporters help prepare children in our community for success in school and in life. The Dinner Sponsorship —a non-golfing sponsorship—includes signage with company logo displayed in the Banquet Hall, a half page ad in program, and a logo on table tent cards at dinner. This sponsorship provides one week of groceries for 20 families struggling to survive. With more than 167,000 people in Rochester living below the poverty level, Volunteers of America is dedicated to alleviate the problem by providing homeless families with a safe shelter, meals, and toiletries at The Guest House. By supporting The Guest House, you are helping to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness in Rochester.
The price for this year’s tournament is $250 per person, which includes 18-holes of golf with a cart, a full lunch buffet, beverages on the course, and an awards ceremony with dinner. Non-golfing scholarships are also offered for those who cannot attend the tournament but still want to fund Volunteers of America’s programs. By supporting the Golf Tournament, golfers will help fulfill Volunteers of America’s mission – to empower people in our community to rise out of poverty, move toward self-reliance and reach their full potential.
Volunteers of America’s annual Golf Tournament has been held at the Irondequoit Country Club every year since 2008. Irondequoit Country Club was formed in 1916 and was originally designed by the well-renowned golf course architect Donald Ross. The country club is equipped with an 18-hole golf course, tennis and paddle courts, a swimming pool, practice facilities, and a banquet hall.
