Our Mission

Volunteers of America Upstate New York (VOA) empowers people in our community to rise out of poverty, move toward self-reliance, and reach their full potential. We accomplish this by providing long-term solutions to homelessness, poverty, addiction, illiteracy and criminal behavior through more than 34 essential programs and services. Nationally, VOA helps more than 2.5 million people in more than 400 communities.

Our Services

Our Binghamton office is located at 320 Chenango Street. VOA offers a wide array of programs to help homeless families and individuals, struggling veterans, frail seniors, and those exiting incarceration. We provide life saving support such as: emergency shelters, case management, counseling, rental assistance, supportive housing, nutritious meals, clothing, employment assistance, and most importantly - HOPE.

  • Emergency Shelter

    Volunteers of America provides 10 emergency shelter beds and case management services to men

    Volunteers of America provides 10 emergency shelter beds and case management services to men experiencing homelessness. In addition to safe shelter, nutritious meals and hygiene kits, VOA provides men with case management services to help them identify the complex issues that led to their housing crisis and help guide them to solutions that help them find and maintain stable, permanent housing.

  • Supportive Housing

    VOA operates 29 units of permanent supportive housing for homeless men with disabling mental

    VOA operates 29 units of permanent supportive housing for homeless men with disabling mental health and/or substance abuse disorders, and six apartments for homeless families that provide affordable housing with ongoing support services to help families maintain a stable home. Supportive housing has proven to be around 90% effective at preventing a return to homelessness.

    VOA provides temporary housing for homeless veterans along with case management services to help
