Volunteers of America hosted its 5th Annual Benefit on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Harro East Ballroom to raise critical funds to support VOA’s life-changing programs for people facing challenges. Nearly 150 guests came together to celebrate an evening filled with fun, great food, glowing specialty drinks, and live music.
The event successfully raised more than $82,000, which will go directly toward the essential services VOA provides in housing, education, and health.
This year’s theme, “Be the Light,” illuminated VOA’s vital work in creating brighter futures for individuals and families across our community. Guests had the opportunity to interact with staff at Impact Tables to learn more about the organization’s programs and services, gaining insight into the impactful work VOA does each day.
A short program featured a moving testimonial video and guest speakers including Colleen Matteson, from presenting sponsor Bank of America Rochester, and Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, ending with remarks from Dr. Junior Dillion, President and CEO of Volunteers of America Upstate New York.
In his remarks, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello highlighted the strong partnerships between Monroe County and VOA, including The Farm and the Moving Forward Family Shelter. In recognition of VOA’s dedication to improving lives, he declared March 3-9 as VOA Week, a special proclamation that further emphasized the impact of VOA’s work in the region.
Dr. Dillion took the opportunity to reiterate VOA’s renewed vision, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to the community, our program participants, and VOA staff. “Our greatest asset is the incredible individuals who show up every day with compassion and resilience, even when the challenges feel overwhelming,” he stated. “We believe caring for our community starts with caring for our staff. We can only light the way for our community when we nurture the people carrying the torch.”
The night concluded with an energetic performance by The Dawgs, Rochester’s premiere fundraising rock band, leaving everyone on a high note.
